Sound Publishing – Driving Sales Growth Through a Statewide Marketing Masterclass

The Challenge

Sound Publishing, a leading local media group in Washington and Alaska, needed a fresh way to connect with small and mid-sized business owners and show the value of its Sound Edge Club membership program. While the program offers significant flexibility and cost savings, its points-based structure was often confusing for potential clients — creating a barrier to sales. The goal was to create a compelling, educational presentation that clarified the program, built trust, and inspired new memberships.

My Role

I designed, wrote, developed, and animated a full 90-minute sales presentation and companion workbook, then took the show on the road, delivering the pitch in six cities across Washington. My job was to make the Sound Edge Club’s benefits crystal clear, connect marketing strategy to real-world business challenges, and give attendees tools they could use immediately.

What I Did

Clarified the Complex – Rewrote the points-based program explanation to be simple, visual, and relatable. Feedback from both sales teams and attendees has been that it’s “the clearest explanation ever” of how the program works.

Designed for Impact – Created an engaging, animated presentation that blended storytelling, audience interaction, and practical marketing education — positioning Sound Publishing as both a trusted media partner and a marketing educator. See the presentation >>

Delivered Statewide – Presented the masterclass in six cities, adapting examples and audience engagement to each local market. Already invited back to present in next year’s tour based on sales success and attendee response.

The Outcome

The presentation has been credited with directly driving new Sound Edge Club memberships and increasing sales team confidence. Attendees leave with clarity about the program, actionable ideas for improving their marketing, and a stronger connection to Sound Publishing’s brand. Internally, the presentation has become a model for blending business development with genuine audience value, proving that when education and sales align, everyone wins.
